SEDEX Audited Jute and Cotton Bag Manufacturer in India

SEDEX Audited Jute and Cotton Bag Manufacturer in India

Our parent company, Utsarg Globex Private Limited, has a 4-Pillar SMETA audit under Sedex. We make jute, cotton and juco bags in Kolkata for importers, brands and promotional product companies. This page explains what the audit covers and how to check a supplier’s audit claim.

What the audit covers

Sedex is an online platform where suppliers share ethical audit information with their buyers. SMETA is the audit method many buyers use, and a 4-Pillar audit covers four areas:

  • Labour standards
  • Health and safety
  • Environment
  • Business ethics

Sedex itself does not certify a factory. What a buyer sees is the audit report, which is why the details of the audit matter.

Why buyers ask for it

Many retailers and promotional product companies in Europe and the UK need ethical audit evidence from their suppliers before they list a product. A current audit helps your own compliance team, and it can shorten the supplier approval process.

How to check a supplier's audit claim

  1. Ask for the audit report, not just a logo.
  2. Check the date. Audits are repeated, so the report should be recent.
  3. Check the pillars. Make sure it is a 4-Pillar audit if your buyer needs that.
  4. Ask for the Sedex references, so your own team can connect on the platform.
  5. Ask about open issues. A good report lists any corrective actions and their status.

Our guide to SEDEX and SMETA audits explains each step in more detail.

Bags we make

  • jute bags: laminated and non-laminated shoppers, bottle bags, pouches and more
  • cotton bags: shoppers, drawstring bags, pouches and canvas
  • juco bags: a blend of jute and cotton

An audit covers how a factory runs. It does not say anything about the fibre or the chemicals. For those, see our pages on OEKO-TEX certified bags, GOTS certified cotton bags and GRS certified cotton bags.

Price, MOQ and lead times

The price depends on the material, the size, the handles, the colour and your branding. We confirm the exact price in your quote.

Export orders start at 1,000 pieces per design, with a minimum total order of 5,000 pieces. Domestic orders start at 500 pieces per design, with a minimum of 1,000 pieces. Samples take 7 to 10 days. Samples without printing are free, and printed samples are charged. Production takes 30 to 60 days. We ship on FOB, CIF, DAP and DDP terms. Custom sizes and shapes are possible. The full breakdown is in our guide to bulk and wholesale orders.

Quality checks

When fabric arrives from the mill we check it against what was ordered. Every finished bag is then checked by hand, one by one, following strict instructions from our QC manager. You are welcome to arrange a third party inspection before the goods leave us. You can read more in our complete guide to jute bag manufacturing in India.

How to get a quote

To quote accurately we need to know:

  • The style of bag you want
  • The quantity
  • The certificate and documents you need with the order
  • The number of colours and sides to be printed
  • The delivery date
  • The delivery location, so we can price DDP

Please send your artwork too. Call us on +91 70033 60903 or write to info@bagsofbengal.in. You can also read our FAQ page for more on ordering.
