GRS Certified Cotton Bag Manufacturer in India
Our parent company, Utsarg Globex Private Limited, holds Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certification. We make cotton bags in Kolkata for importers, brands and promotional product companies, and we can quote recycled cotton bags for buyers who need GRS. This page explains what our certificate covers and what to ask for before you order.

Pre-consumer recycled cotton comes from manufacturing waste, such as offcuts. A scope certificate is not proof that a shipment is GRS certified. Each shipment needs a transaction certificate, and we confirm the documents that come with your order.
Dyeing and some other processes are done by outside partners. Tell us the color you need before you order, and we confirm whether it can be made as GRS certified.
What GRS means for a cotton bag
GRS is a voluntary standard owned by Textile Exchange. It verifies the recycled content of a product and follows it through the supply chain. It also sets rules for working conditions, environmental practice and chemicals.
Recycled cotton is not organic cotton. GRS is about recycled content. If you need organic fibre, that is a different standard, and our page on GOTS certified cotton bags covers it.
A product needs at least 50% certified recycled content to carry the GRS label. Products with 20% to 50% certified content can be GRS certified but cannot use the label. Tell us which one you need.

What to ask any supplier for
- The scope certificate, which lists the company, the site and the products covered
- Proof that the certificate is current and covers cotton bags
- The recycled content percentage of the fabric
- A transaction certificate for each GRS shipment
- A check of the supplier on Textile Exchange’s public database
We are happy to go through this with you. Our guide to what GRS certification is explains each document.
Printing and GRS
Printing, inks and chemicals are part of GRS, so they can affect whether your finished bag stays inside the certificate. If your order must be GRS certified, tell us before you choose the print method and we will confirm what fits. We offer screen printing, digital printing and embroidery, and our design team can send a mock-up before your sample.
Price, MOQ and lead times
The price depends on the material, the size, the handles, the colour and your branding. We confirm the exact price in your quote.
Export orders start at 1,000 pieces per design, with a minimum total order of 5,000 pieces. Domestic orders start at 500 pieces per design, with a minimum of 1,000 pieces. Samples take 7 to 10 days. Samples without printing are free, and printed samples are charged. Production takes 30 to 60 days. We ship on FOB, CIF, DAP and DDP terms. Custom sizes and shapes are possible. The full breakdown is in our guide to bulk and wholesale orders.
Quality checks
When fabric arrives from the mill we check it against what was ordered. Every finished bag is then checked by hand, one by one, following strict instructions from our QC manager. You are welcome to arrange a third party inspection before the goods leave us. You can read more in our complete guide to jute bag manufacturing in India.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does GRS certified cotton mean?
It means the cotton is recycled, and that the recycled content is verified and tracked through the supply chain under the Global Recycled Standard.
Is GRS cotton the same as organic cotton?
No. GRS is about recycled content. Organic fiber is covered by a different standard, GOTS.
What is the minimum order for GRS cotton bags?
Our standard minimums are 1,000 pieces per design for export, with 5,000 in total. Recycled fabric can have its own minimums, so we confirm them in your quote.
Which documents come with a GRS order?
Ask us for our scope certificate. For a GRS order we confirm the transaction certificate and the other documents in your quote.
Can you print my logo on GRS cotton bags?
Yes. Because printing is part of the standard, tell us the print method early and we will confirm it fits.
Do you offer samples?
Yes. Samples take 7 to 10 days. Plain samples are free and printed samples are charged.
