SEDEX audited bag manufacturing and our SEDEX guide

All certificates are issued to Utsarg Globex Private Limited, the company that owns the Bags of Bengal brand.

Which certificate do you need?

  • If your buyers ask about chemical safety, ask for OEKO-TEX.
  • If your buyers ask about ethical sourcing and factory conditions, ask for a Sedex audit.
  • If you want to market a product as organic, ask for GOTS.
  • If you want to market a product as recycled, ask for GRS.

A bag can hold several of these. They are separate checks, not steps on one ladder. Tell us which ones your order needs and we confirm which certificate applies to which product.

How to check any supplier's certificate

  1. Ask for the certificate itself, not just a logo.
  2. Check that it is in the supplier’s own name and is current.
  3. Check that it covers the product you want.
  4. Check it with the issuing body or its public database.

Memberships

We are members of JPDEPC, the Jute Products Development and Export Promotion Council, and EPCH, the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts.

Our bags

We make bags in four materials: jute bags, cotton bags, juco bags and canvas bags. Which certificate applies depends on the material and the order.
